In Reiki, purple/violet is symbolic of healing as well as the color of the two upper chakras where Reiki energy enters the Reiki Practitioner. It is also the color that represents and surrounds all the symbols. And it just happens to be my favorite color as well.

The Chakras:

The crown chakra is the chakra of consciousness and understanding. It is believe to rule all other chakras and rule over the pituitary gland, which leads all other glands secreting hormones throughout the endocrine system.  It also connects us with our spiritual self or higher self. It is the entry point for the Universal Life Force or Reiki Energy to enter the Reiki Practioner or Reiki Master. It is also often the area where the Reiki healing session begins. This chakra is usually seen as a violet or violet-white light.

The Ajna Chakra, or third eye, is linked to the pineal gland. Ajna is the chakra of time and awareness and of light. The pineal gland is a light sensitive gland that produces the hormone melatonin, which regulates our sleep patterns.  This is also the chakra of clairvoyance, intuition and inspiration. This chakra is visualized as indigo, purple or a deep violet color. Many see this chakra as various shades of purple; they are all correct.
