The first time I heard about Reiki was in the early to mid '90s when I met some people who were interested in psychic development and things that were categorized as "new age" back then. Reiki often opens practitioners up in the Third Eye or Anja Chakra, so enhanced intuition or clairvoyance is not uncommon. Over the years, Iwas told by two Reiki Masters, as well as others in the "new age" circuit, that I possessed the energy of a healer and should consider Reiki. Neither of them tried to recruit me to their classes. In fact, I didn't even know that was an option or how to go about it. I was not ready. I just took the information and filed it away somewhere. However, I am a firm believer that if something is part of your path in this journey of life, it will resurface again and again until you are ready to face it or receive it.

Years later, while I was training to become a yoga teacher, one of my fellow teachers in training became a Reiki Master. I received my first Reiki treatment and had a wonderful experience. Still, I was not ready to begin my Reiki path. That didn't happen until my husband was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and started receiving his own Reiki treatments. When I saw how well his body responded to Reiki and how much it helped with his healing, I knew I wanted to be part of this. His Reiki Practioner also had her own wonderful cancer recovery with the help of Reiki. Soon after, Anita became my Reiki Master Teacher.

I am a Reiki Master Teacher certified to practice and teach all levels of Usui Reiki.
